What is vector graphic and where it is used?
As per that definition vector graphics is mainly done by use of sequence of computer commands or mathematical statements. These commands place lines and shapes in a given two dimensional or three dimensional spaces. In vector graphics creation, the final result of graphics is saved as a sequence of vector statements. The final graphics file represents a series of points to be connected instead of bits.
Vector images are more flexible then bit maps because they can be resized and stretched as much as you want. There would not be any difference in quality when you stretch the image. The vector image looks good on high resolution device while other images look always same regardless of device resolution.
The difference between vector graphics and normal images
1. Vector are more flexible because they can be resized from high resolution to low resolution and vice a verse without loosing quality on other hand bitmaps loose quality if you resize it more. 2. Bitmap has to be rectangle while vector can contain curve and other shapes like polygons. 3. bitmap contain pixels while vector images contain individual objects
Advantages of bitmaps - easy to create - you can take picture with digital camera or scan it from scanner - cost effective Disadvantages of bitmaps - not upward scalable - Can be made smaller without loosing quality but cannot be made larger. You lose quality if try to resize it to make bigger.
Advantages of Vector - Vector Images are scalable - Never loose quality with resizing
Disadvantage of Vector - very expensive to create - you cannot take photograph in vector
Where is vector graphics used?
Vector graphics is used in many areas such as sign makers use our service to increase the resize facility. As they might need to put the sign on bus and they have very small size of the image. So in this case you need vector the image.
There are many other sectors where vector images are used:
Following are few examples: Sophisticated graphics system CAD Animation Vector fonts Scalable fonts, Object oriented fonts Outline fonts Sign Makers Promotional Product manufacturers Decal Makers Plaque Makers Web Designers Game Developers Badge Makers Digital Embroiderers Vinyl Cutters Printers & Publishers Illustrators Clip Art creators Laser Engravers Advertising Agencies

The most important tip for preparing artwork for promotional products
EPS vector format (encapsulated post script) is a high resolution format that printers use because the quality of the image is high. Whilst many of us are used to using images in jpeg, gif, bmp etc in everyday use, they are simply too low a resolution/quality to be assured of using when branding artwork on a promotional product.
Promotional products represent the face of your business. Just as you would take pride in your personal appearance and look your best for your customers, you want to ensure your promotional products look the best in representing your business or promotion.
EPS vector files can be generated by all drawing applications and many layout applications.
What is the difference between vector format (EPS) and other formats?
There are two types of graphic formats
1. Vector format and 2. Raster format
Vector format graphics e.g. EPS format, are based on mathematical formulae, whereas Raster graphics e.g. jpeg, gif and bmp show an image as a series of pixels.
Each format has its pros and cons, and there are times when it is better to use one format over the other.
When viewing a raster format picture, it is made up of pixels. The smaller and closer together these pixels, the better the quality of the image. If the image is enlarged, (and generally the number of pixels is kept constant) the pixels become larger, and there is less clarity of the image as individual/groups of pixels may become apparent. The file size of the image is also increased as the resolution (the number of pixels) is increased.
In vector format the image is based on a mathematical formula, so no matter what the size, the quality of the image is preserved. In fact an image in vector format can be indefinitely zoomed. It also means that the size of the image does not have to affect the size of the file. An added benefit is that details such as colour or altering of the shape can be added and removed easily from vector format artwork.

Produce High-End Images Using Vector Art
Bitmap image pertains to those graphics and images that mainly use pixels to store their information. A pixel can be defined as a very tiny square that shows on the screen and that when accumulated form images. Given that bitmap images are composed of simply tiny squares, increasing their sizes may affect the quality of the graphics. Bitmap images are simply hard to scale up.
Meanwhile, vector images are highly scalable without having to sacrifice image's quality. This category of image does not make use pixels to store information, but rather mathematical details. Angles and coordinates are mainly used to store vector image information. Coming up with vector images require you to utilize specific photo editing software program such as Adobe Illustrator, Macromedia Freehand and Corel Draw. On the other hand, vector users can also have vector packs to experience the most out of vector art. There are literally thousands of free vector packs which you can get online.
Vector images are relatively a lot better when compared with bitmap images since these are highly scalable. Also, the quality of the vector art images are said to be par excellence.
